Dr. Itani has over a decade of history of treating special care patients who require unique and compassionate care. This includes geriatric, special needs, medically compromised, phobic and homebound patients with mobility limitations. Age related infirmities and conditions such as Autism, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome or extreme fear of dental treatment are all within Dr. Itani’s scope of practice.
Dr. Itani established Itani Dental San Francisco in 2009. He has served as President of California Hospital Dental Group, Vice Chair of the Dental Division at Kaiser, and as Commissioner for the Department of Aging and Adult Services for the City of San Francisco. He is a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and serves on the medical staff of California Medical Center – Sutter Health Hospitals, Kaiser Permanente San Francisco, Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara, and Kaiser Permanente San Jose.
Dr. Christina Woo has a doctorate in dental surgery from UCLA and works as an associate dentist. She completed residency at Highland Hospital in general practice which developed her skills treating the elderly and special needs populations. Dr. Woo holds staff privileges at Sutter Health California Pacific Medical Center and at the Dental Division of Kaiser Permanente San Francisco.
Dr. Travis Smith holds a B.S. in biology from Widener University, graduating cum laude with advanced honors in general education, and a D.M.D. from Temple University, which he earned following a rigorous, seven year accelerated dual-degree program. After dental school, he completed a general practice residency at Hackensack University Medical Center, where he furthered his study of treating medically compromised patients.
After practicing in New Jersey for a few years, Dr. Smith moved to San Francisco in 2019 and joined Itani Dental the following year. He is a member of the San Francisco, California, and American Dental Associations; the Special Care Dental Association; certified in Invisalign; and maintains hospital privileges with Sutter CPMC hospital network and Kaiser San Francisco/Santa Clara Hospitals. In addition to his professional affiliations, Dr. Smith serves on the Board of Directors and legislative committee for the San Francisco Dental Society and the Government Affairs Council for the California Dental Association.
